Forecast Last Updated at Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 7:43PM
Sunshine, Warm, Perfect
Above-normal temperatures with abundant sunshine characterize the weather through the end of the workweek. A stray shower sneaks into the forecast for Friday night and early Saturday, followed by noticeably cooler weather for the upcoming weekend. Although we could really use the rain, we’re just not going to get anything meaningful over the next week or so.

Forecast Discussion
High pressure covers the eastern Great Lakes, eastern Ohio Valley, and Mid Atlantic region. The high will slowly shift offshore, but continue to solely influence our weather into Friday. Temperatures through the period will run 5 to 10-degrees above normal.
A rather strong cold front will approach us from the west on Friday, moving through here very early Saturday morning. While western North Carolina is getting dry and could really use some rainfall, the front is cut off from Gulf of Mexico moisture and thus moisture-starved. A few showers may accompany the front Friday night or very early Saturday, but little meaningful rainfall is expected.
The main storyline post-frontal will be a much cooler, fall-like air mass for the weekend. Temperatures actually settle a few degrees below normal, and some mountain areas to our west will experience the first frost or freeze of the season Saturday and Sunday nights. This should serve as an accelerant to the fall foliage color change. Fair weather will dominate through the period.
