Clouds & Pleasant Temperatures

There will be a lot of cloudiness today but temperatures are going to be pleasant. A shower or thundershower may be in the Southern Foothills late today and tonight. More clouds will be with us on Wednesday along with widely scattered showers & perhaps a thundershower. Thursday and Friday will feature more sunshine and warmer temperatures with just isolated PM thundershowers. For the all-important holiday weekend, it appears as though we will become entrenched in our typical summertime weather pattern: Very warm and humid with scattered afternoon showers & thunderstorms.

Forecast Discussion

A nearly stationary front lies from the coastal Carolinas back into Alabama and Georgia. The daytime is generally dry north of this boundary, but plenty of clouds will keep temperatures suppressed. Isolated showers or thundershowers are possible late today and tonight.

A weak upper level disturbance passing through late Wednesday may wave-up the front a bit, providing a little better chance for showers.

Thursday and Friday feature more sunshine and warmer temperatures. PM thundershowers will be renegade in nature.

Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, the Bermuda High sets up shop, while a cold front settles southward toward the Mason-Dixon line. This is a nice setup for scattered afternoon thundershowers Saturday through the Fourth (with perhaps the best coverage Sunday and Monday afternoons). Temperatures will be pretty close to normal for the holiday weekend.
