Taoism Discussion Group Meeting at Watauga County Public Library on Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30 pm
HIDEPlease join us for a discussion of Taoism and its influences on philosophy and health. The class will be loosely structured around readings from the Tao De Ching, and Chuang Tzŭ, or any other material you care to bring. There will also be a Chi Gong or Taiji Ch’aun practice (Cheng Man-ch’ing’s yang short form). As discussions progress topics may include: an introduction to a Taoist view of the seasons, directions, and other Nature forces, and their influence on Chinese medicine. The class is being organized by Joel Packard, a Boone resident, Chinese Medicine student, and practitioner of Taiji Ch’aun.

The 7th Annual 5K Railroad Grade Run will be held September 20, 2008 in Todd, NC. Race begins at 9:00 a.m. Registration and preregistration packet pickup begins at 8:15 a.m.

HIDEArt in the Park in Blowing Rock, North Carolina begins its 46th year, on May 17th! This award-winning series features the works of juried artisans from all over the Eastern U.S. in metal, fiber, watercolor and oil painting, wood, photography, basketry, jewelry, clay, glass and more. The Chamber of Commerce provides free shuttles throughout the day. Just park your car at Tanger Outlet Center or the Food Lion Grocery on Highway 321 bypass, and hop on the shuttle which will bring you right into downtown Blowing Rock. The show is located at the American Legion Grounds just behind Memorial Park and admission is FREE. Show hours are 10 am til 5 pm.
