Sprawling Canadian high pressure built over the region today. With clear skies and calm winds tonight, it will be a setup with excellent radiational cooling conditions.
After a cold start to Thursday, temperatures will moderate even more by afternoon as our high slides offshore and directs southerly breezes into the western Carolinas.
Next up will be low pressure sliding along the Gulf Coast and headed in our direction by Saturday morning. Rain will overspread the area by late Friday and Friday night, ending Saturday morning. As it looks right now, weekend weather is shaping up to be dry and seasonably cool (after early rain exits on Saturday).
A dry reinforcing front perpetuates slightly below-normal temperatures early next week.
